Quiet hotel with a fantastic rooftop onsen in the middle of the city!

Tucked away in a quiet location, despite being just around the corner from the hustle and bustle of Shinjuku. A wonderful rooftop onsen with beautiful views of the city skyline. The onsen also allows entrance to those with tattoos. Cozy and comfortable rooms with all the required amenities, possibly a bit larger than the average room in Tokyo. Great customer service and a lovely traditional breakfast experience.

Can be cleaner (rooms a bit dusty-reading other reviews suggest that it’s an issue with the ventilation vents?) Hotel staff should be a bit more strict about how guests clean themselves prior to using the onsen. The location may not be ideal for folks who want quick access to Shinjuku station.

Fantastic Onsen and great Japanese Vibe

The onsen was amazing as was the whole vibe of the hotel. Room was small but we knew that when we booked and was the only room available at the time, however the beds were comfortable. In a quiet area of Shinjaku.

The hotel though situated on a quiet street has a convenience store located directly opposite.

The breakfast is good and onsen offered on the roof is awesome. Love the amenities in the room.

Would have been better if they offer transports to and fro from airports.

Overall the experience was fine but compared to the experience on other hotels in Japan was mediocre

The hotel has a nice asthenic and ambiance, when it's not full. The onsen is nice and relaxing when it's not full. There is a really nice food spread at 10 pm with free sake and local things to try that was a nice touch

Cleaning was really strange in this hotel, you could tell it was done only at the surface. If you looked a little harder you saw dust under the bed and behind things. The beds were made when we were there but dirty tea cups were left as they were and weren't replaced, we left a bag of trash by the trash and only the trash can was replaced but the bag wasn't thrown out causing the already small room to feel dirty. The onsen changing room was also a little dirty, not sure if this is because there were many foreigners which just aren't as clean as the japanese or because the staff doesn't visit enough to clean. The staff was subpar, most of them weren't very nice, didn't speak English well and didn't know how to answer basic questions like how much was a taxi to the airport The hotel was really full and the "lounge" outside the onsen was always packed with loud groups Overall the experience was fine but compared to the service and experience on other hotels in Japan it didn't really feel like it was in the standard of the country

Luxe hotel near the heart of Shinjuku

The room felt spacious and was super clean. Awesome city views. Thoughtful touches like welcome snacks and the free ice blocks at the onsen were appreciated. Easy check-in, helpful staff.

Located just that little bit too far from Shinjuku station (but that also meant it was quiet which was a positive)

Clean, elegant hotel. The onsen with a view is really beautiful. The Japanese traditional breakfast is something special for sure. The rooms are small, though well equipped.

A safe or lockbox in the room would have been nice.

We had a lovely stay overall at Onsen Ryokan Yuen.

Staff were very friendly and the room was clean and had everything we needed. Loved the idea reusable water bottle with water station on our floor. Location was also great with a short walk to Shinjuku station

Beautiful stay with a quiet environment. 7 eleven and Family Mart is just outside the ryokan.

Beautiful place. Quiet neighbourhood. All the utilities are convenient and works well.

The space is a little small, but I'm not complaining. Overall, it was a very comfortable stay. Would be perfect if the room and toilet were larger.

Great soft but supportive bed and calm atmosphere

The bed was incredibly comfortable. Soft but still supportive. Great views from the bedroom Very clean Lovely touches like the good quality green tea and tea pot set in room The Yukata felt luxurious to wear Great having an outdoor onsen with city views. Hotel had a calm atmosphere 7 11 across the road - great for breakfast and snacks A nice local feeling area but still about 20 minutes walk to heart of Shinjuku

No sound proofing. Had to wear ear plugs. Could hear everything, paper thin walls. Lifts - incredibly slow. Seem to take 10-15 minutes to wait for a lift at times. The location was a bit too far from the closest station. After a long day sight seeing with very sore feet - the distance from the station was very tiring. I found the layout of the room quite awkward.

Fanatic hotel, close enough to Shinjuku but far enough away to be quiet and peaceful.

The architecture was relaxing with both modern and traditional Japanese influences. The room although small was perfectly formed ( we were on floor 4) with a very comfortable bed. The restaurant was exceptional at both breakfast and evening meals and would recommend the hotel for that alone.

Amazing rooftop onsen, great value hotel close to Shinjuku.

Amazing rooftop onsen and the breakfast was fabulous. Great location right next to Shinjuku and the buzz of Western Central Tokyo. Really good value for money - room definitely on the small side, but more than adequate.

Nothing - all was great other than perhaps the rooms are on the small side.
